Mater's is located in historic downtown Gadsden on the corner of Fourth and Locust Street. The restaurant opened in 1978 as a small pizza and pasta restaurant. Over the years they expanded the business to include an Oyster Bar. Mater's of Gadsden now occupies half a city block. They have included a game room just off the Oyster Bar, and have many TV's throughout the restaurant. Sidewalk dining is available when weather permits and free Wi-Fi is also available.

They make their own dough and blend the cheeses to make one of the biggest and best pizzas you will ever eat. They offer an extensive beer menu and offer a variety of wines by the glass and by the bottle.
